Ear candling is a safe, natural, effective and alternative, pain free method of removing soft wax and debris from the ears using a mild suction. This is combined with a head and neck massage using essential oils to allow the client to relax. The massage also stimulates lymphatic drainage in the face and neck areas and facilitates an easier release from the ears.
This method of cleaning has been around for centuries with evidence dating back to 3000B.C. The Chinese practiced ear candling and the Egyptians used reeds from the Nile. In North America the Indians made candles from rolled up paper that had been waxed and scented with incense.
Ear candling involves the use of a hollow candle, made of unbleached cotton coated in beeswax and looking like a large crayon with one end tapered. The tapered end fits into the ear canal opening and the other end is lit, the smoke from the candle goes inside the auditory canal, the smoke and the warmth of the candle loosens the wax build-up in the ear and it falls away into the canal, and is pulled up towards the flame by the vacuum created. I include a head and neck massage using essential oils during the treatment.
